Lake Johanna

I discovered a couple lakes near where I work in Roseville, which is a suburb just north of Minneapolis proper. As early as March I'd been gettting out at lunch and walking around these lakes (one has a nice trail), reading my book in the car, and so forth, about once a week just to get out of the office. Then on one of the first warm days in April there were a bunch of families at one of the lakes, and a few of the kids were even getting their feet wet. This past Tuesday was a nice day, so I brought my camera to capture all the Minnesotans in beach mode at 1pm on a Tuesday afternoon. They really do embrace the outdoors here once the weather finally cooperates.



The white blob in the distance is a bunch of kids on a blow-up raft.

The lake is part of a larger park that is really quite big. (For my Upper Moreland readers, it reminds me of Mason's Mill.) The above photo is taken from the top of a hill across the street from the lake, looking back at the lake. Behind me at the top of the hill there are baseball fields and a playground, and around the base of the hill is a good walking trail.
